Volvo S60

Volvo S60

Volvo is a Swedish car manufacturer focused on safety. Only more recently has the company focused on the physical attractiveness of their products. Swedish design is synonymous with clean- simple lines, and unoffending style. The textures which make up the Volvo S60 adhere closely to Swedish design language.

Exterior

The headlamp clusters contain a mix of indicator lights, low beams and high beams. The complex design has been streamlined into a single, elegant package when viewed from afar . Get closer and a series of angular notches reveal themselves on the lens for a more efficient lighting pattern. A miniature set of wipers finish the off the assembly.

An egg-crate grill makes the face of the S60 appear to have an opened mouth. The original "ball-bearing forward slash" completes this S60 as it has to millions of Volvos before it.

Triangle inspired tail lamps provide large and informative views of the driver's braking and signals. The tail lamps are the end caps of the hard shoulders which flank the s60.

Winters in Sweden can be treacherous; in some parts snow covers the ground during most of the year. For these reasons, Volvo has outfitted their s60 with tires that deliver a high degree of traction. The texture of the tires is more than capable of traversing the snowy roads of Volvo's home country, or the icy roads of New England.

Interior

There is nothing worse than an uncomfortable seat. Fortunately, the S60 lacks those. Its seats are supportive, wrapped in supple leather and heated. There are few things more enjoyable than driving the S60 on a cold winter day while your bottom is treated to warm, soft leather. Look closely and you'll see the supportive nature of the seat. If this sports sedan is thrown into the turns, both the driver and his passenger would be held firmly and comfortably in place.

Because this car was designed in and for colder climates, a strong HVAC system is to be expected. On cold winter mornings the S60 delivers a calm steady breeze of warm air, constant blasts of warm air, or virtually anything in-between. Intuitive, attractive, and functional vents help get the heat to the driver and his passengers.

The interior dome light carries a pattern of hundreds of tiny, plastic prisms. Not only does this leave the dome light visually appealing, it helps the overhead lights provide dispersions of light in the dark. Studying maps or rummaging for a CD has never been so well illuminated.

A durable carpet spans the floor of the interior of the car. On top of it lie easily removable carpeted mats of the same texture and color.
